Sydney Triumph Mechanic - Revisted

Hi All,
I have a 2009 Speed triple, i bought it from Triumph blacktown as it was the closest dealer to me and i shudder to deal with procycles at hornsby ever again.

I used to use Lloyd Penn in Artarmon for service under warranty of my Suzuki but unfortunately Lloyd only deals with Japanese bikes.

Who in Sydney is a trust worthy mechanic who knows his triumphs?

It seems every time i go for a service the price has gone up $100 for no reason at all. $420 for a 10,000km service and to get a bike back dirtier than it was dropped off isn't fun.

I would service it myself if it wasn't under warranty...

Triumph Granville is worth a shot

You cannot go wrong with the Tech at Triumph Granville. I was in there to get a puncture repair and dyno run and he spent around 15 minutes with me talking Triumphs. He is well known as the guru by all the staff in the shop as well as the service department.
I wish I could remember his name but he has a heavy German accent and is tall. You cannot miss him and anyone you speak to there will know who you are talking about.
Like you, the only person I trust at the end of the day is me, but for the sake of warranty I would not go anywhere else.

BTW, the dyno run was a last minute decision and the Service Manager gave me a special price so I went away smiling. Particularly when they said my Daytona gave a better output at the rear wheel than a late model Fireblade they had done on the weekend!

Yep, Parramatta Road close to Parramatta. Not sure about a loan bike but they were happy for me to jump on a demo while I was waiting for my bike (although I didn't take up the offer). No harm in asking...

Procycles in Sydney (st. peters) have never let me down BUT they sure know how to charge!

I have had bad experiences (twice) with the mechanics in south west Sydney dealership - they seem to specialise in lawnmowers not Triumphs

+1 for the big German guy. My last service was the first time I have come across him at Granville and while I get the impression he prefers sports bikes, did a great job on my Speedy.

A computer word is 16 bits. 2 bits = 1 quarter (25c). 1 bit is 12.5c. A word is worth $2, therefore a picture is worth $2,000. Eugene Volokh

Boogla, just a thought - if you are out of warranty and have a customised bike and don't want the normal apprentice messing with your bike why not drop into Motociclio on Princes Hwy St Peters (about 200 yards from Procycles (a Triumph dealer) but on other side of the road).

John is a Motto Guzzi specialist but not strictly that - does all sorts and is a well known identity.

http://www.motociclo.com.au/main_aboutus.html

I have bought a few bits from him (he went well out of his way to help) and he mentioned he is happy working on the newer Thruxton/Bonnevilles when I spoke to him a while ago (said they were much easier than the older ones).

I have only heard good things about him as a mechanic but can't say first hand as he hasn't done any mechanical work for me (but I am keeping him in mind if I do need work done).

If you are nearby why not drop in and have a look around and see what you think - he is a friendly helpful fellow and knows and is passionate about bikes. Usually some interesting bikes in the shop to perve at too
