Thumbs down Tasrats future in Tasmania

Today I went into the local Trumpy dealer and was told that he was shutting down the Tasrat's for a few months and would start it again but only have Trumpy's on rides. I was pretty gutted by this. I have been a Tasrat since it started here in Tassie in 05 and there are a lot of non Trumpy owners who have turned up every month on every ride and supported the Tasrat's.

I find it very ironic that in twelve and a half months I haven't seen the local Trumpy dealer or any of his staff turn up for so much as one ride with us. Also at the Tasrats christmas party he didn't bother to turn up and say thanks for all the support we gave him for the years past. He also said that he had a meeting with the Trumpy Aussie boss who was concerned that more non Trumpy's where coming on Rat rides and wanted it shut down.

Well I say crap , the Tasrat rat rides will stop only when the the people who put the effort in and do the rides say so. Not when some penny pinching piece of crap in a suit say's so. What these fools fail to see that every non Trumpy rider who comes on a ride is a possible buyer.

The Tasrats will continue to do there monthly rides and if we have to change or name to the Riding Around Tassie then so be it. The Tasrats will still welcome anyone no matter what they ride including anyone from interstate. It doesn't matter what you ride what counts is the person not the machine.

Here here! More power to ya, brotha....

If you take yourself officially out of RAT, take it over to Rides and Events section though...

Sorry that those guys just don't get it, but try not to diss them too much. They are probably getting a bit anxious in these economic times! Try to encourage them to help promote a positive, welcoming brand image maybe?

Thumbs down Moved on!

Hi all just a quick update on the Tasrat's situation. We are now called ROT (Riders Of Tasmania). I tried to log on to the Tasrat's site and found that I have been banned, must have upset someone.

It seems that now if you do not own a Trumpy you are not welcome on Rat rides, unless you are a friend of the local dealer. It seems these days that money and brand are all important and it is no longer about the people who ride. That being said now that I don't ride a Triumph it will be a cold day in Hell before I buy anything from these people. One day when Trumpy get their act together and build a big sports tourer I will get one, but I can promise you this I will ever buy a bike from our local dealer.

Best of luck to everyone and may see some of you here on a ROT ride sometime providing you don't mind riding with a non Triumph.
