Question jack russell on a bonnie?

hey all, new to forum and need some help. the misses and i are about to indulge in the ultimate triumph experiance. we're not far from buying two bikes (hers a bonnie, mine a speedy) and riding them around oz. only problem is we fully intend to bring the jack russell with us. as im towing the trailer we thought we would set him up on the bonnie somehow. we live in perth and cant seem to find any decent motocycle dog carriers in oz. is there any out there? any help much appreciated.

Does your dog like bikes?

Reason I ask is a friend of mine Tex O'Grady comutes daily, and has travelled all of Australia with his dog Bundy.
He has a special jacket with harness and special goggles for Bundy, and a leather cover on Tank for bike.
here is one link http://www.ozbiker.org/index.php?opt...=1648&Itemid=2

but if you put in search his and dogs name, i am sure you will find lots

thanks mate i'll give it a try. dog luvs the bike. at the moment we've been putting him in a backpack and wearing him on our stomach. not sure how he'll go on the tank, looking for something a bit more secure. being a jack russell he can be easily tempted to chase anything that takes his fancy regardless of the situation he's in.

Beware

Don't overlook the changes to the Australian Road Rules introduced last August:

297 (3) The rider of a motor bike must not ride with an animal on the petrol tank of the motor bike

297 (4) Subrule (3) does not apply to a person who rides with an animal on the petrol tank of a motor bike for a distance of not more than 500 metres for the purposes of a farming activity that the person is carrying out

Totally right

Tex is applying for an exemption and is still commuting with Dog, with a blind eye being turned. Will let you know final outcome, and how (if) exemptions will be allowed.

Actually, the Rules are poorly drafted, because there are a few bikes now on the market which have their fuel tanks under the seat (the BMW 650s & 800s spring to mind)

Ah good point DaveO. So if Tex buys one of them he won't be breaking the new laws anyway

so what if the dog is enclosed in a stable dog crate that is secured to the motorcycle? i mean if he's comfortable and has no chance of obstructing your view or jumping off the bike than i dont see the problem. i cant believe this crap! i just read about tex n bundy in amcm today and am going to sign the petition at http://www.gopetition.com.au/petitio...undy-ride.html.
