Good article. Bloor got sound advice from the management consultants: use of focus groups, building on brand and image as opposed to going head-to-head in the big marketplace, limited diversity of product line.

I was wondering the same thing.
You would think they would be proud to publicize the new Thailand facilities.
Why do they keep this a secret from potential buyers?

I think if your going to keep brand identity you need to keep focus on you heritage and build products that promote an England bike manufacturer. The Rocket111 touring is an American design with America in mind. I think this is a mistake. I and many people like myself don't want a cookie cutter bike. I am not saying that the Rocket 111 original design is cookie cutter but the new touring model screams American cruiser that has been around forever. Seems silly to try and cut into a market with the same old styling.

To answer the previous posts. The tourer was as a result of extensive research carried out in the USA, many Americas thought the Rocket 3 to bullish and aggressive for their type of riding, hence the Tourer. It has been deliberately toned down to be less intimidating. Only sales will tell but already there is a healthy order book for the Tourer.
With regard to Triumph factories in Thailand, we, opps sorry they now have two, an assembly plant and an injection moulding plant for fairings etc. Hinckley is nearing capacity, although it could be increased but build quality could suffer. It is planned therefore that in 2008 all bike sold in the far east will be manufactured in their new Thailand facilities. Not only will it keep bike prices down over there but also greater numbers. Don't worry guys you will still be getting Hinckley built bikes.

Hope that helps.

Thumbs up Good read!

Pretty good read. It's always good to see what in their thoughts, so that you can have a better understanding, and appreciation, of the mark as a whole.

Thanks!
