For anyone who doesn't happen to receive Triumph's e-mail newsletter, here's a bit more on price and availability:

"The Rocket III Touring defines its own character with detachable hard bags, quick disconnect screen, an all new slim-line tank, twin exhausts, and a big single headlight. MSRP is $16,699 in the U.S. ($19,999 in Canada) and bikes will be available in the U.S. dealers by January 2008.."

From what I see ...
I really don't like the single headlamp and tank mounted instrument cluster.

I do like the availability of the detachable hard bags - and seem to be a large 38L per side. I wonder if they will fit an older Rocket (even with changing the pipes) and how much they might cost as an add-on. If they're much more than the leathers, I like the look of Beetle bags much, much better.

I'll be interested in looking but doubt I'd consider buying.

I would rather Triumph had focused on adding accessories to and improving the quality of the current Rocket line.

I'm not suggesting that the Rocket suffers from poor quality but having a rock solid and reliable mount with loads of accessories is a fundamental requirement. Harley sales didn't take off until they addressed quality issues.

The chatter about lower timing chains, transmission bolts backing out, and the like makes me very nervous - but still love my Rocket.

Eating other bikes is cool; being passed on the road because of a break down is not.

A Road King with a British accent?
The Rocket III is so superior in comfort and performance to its equivalent HD counterpart. I would have preferred a more unique look and effort towards reliability. Even Harley thought the bug eyes were cool as they incorporated the concept into their new 2008 Fat Bob.
