2013 Triumph Trophy SE Preview
 

Since the demise of the Trophy in 2004, Triumph's Sprint ST and GT have been tasked with representing the touring category for the Brits. That changes later this year with the re-introduction of the 2013 Triumph Trophy SE.

Awash with electronic gadgetry and boasting a relatively low wet weight (662 lbs sans luggage), the new Trophy's spec sheet resembles that of a BMW. And its look? Well, that's borderline plagiarism of the R1200RT. After last year's shootout between the Tiger 800XC and the BMW F800GS – where the visually similar Tiger narrowly defeated the GS – maybe Triumph figures it can do it again in the sport-touring division.

Love my yamaha fjr, but this is going to have me trading it in..

If my wife and I still toured(had a baby), I would most likely upgrade. Alas, I'll be keeping the 05 Sprint for quite awhile.

Too bad, no SCTSs. Not really a very well equipt bike.

Underpowered, heavy and sorry not very pretty. It will tour wonderfully and it looks like great weather protection but I have to say both the Tiger Explorer and this look far to much like Bimmers to me.

I am disappointed that the new Trophy looks like a BMW rather than like a Triumph. The last version of the Trophy was a beauty and could have been well upgraded for a properly British sport tourer. Bummer, that.

I concur. I need to preface this with to each their own. I love the idea of a sport tourer with this engine, but I like Triumphs because they are (in the case of the Explorer and this, were) unique. Looks still count, IMHO this is way too RT-ish for me. That, and I'd never want a bike with an audio system. Looks like there's no choice.

I'm in-market (way in-market, cash-in-hand) for something to tour on. Now I'm disappointed I missed out on that blue leftover Sprint GT Triumph Detroit had for a great OTD price. Back to used Tiger 1050's and Sprints.
