painless, I have an RT '12, and I believe that the two bikes will be very similar, too. More hp with the Trophy, but much more weight, too. I've been told that an RT has no "soul", but it does collect many miles per ride, and in a very comfortable way, too.
I hope the Trophy does the same. I know that to me, my previous ST 1050 and Tiger 1050 were disappointments, and hope the Trophy's similarities are only in that it has 2 wheels and a three cylinder engine. tomp

I love this bike and already have one on order! I'm already in the process of selling my Thruxton to make room for the Trophy!

Why is the Honda approx 20% heavier (150lbs) than the BMW? Loaded down with all the money you'd save?
I still like this Trophy as a touring bike and not, as others have mentioned, a commuter/daily.
They say prices in Jan and dealers in Sept so look for a full 14 more months of hype...

Here's the real deal, It will take me away from my Harley Road Glide, with more style, more features, and 300 pounds less weight to worry about. I am really happy with bikes in the 500 to 700 range, having ridden the Glide for five years, it has consistently scared the hell out of me getting on, getting off and backing up. Just too damn heavy.
I am no ***** either.

Re: 2013 Triumph Trophy SE Preview
+1 transferring from a HD. I rented the Ultra for an AZ tour last year and at 995lbs plus me n Mrs K I was glad to get back to a relatively svelte 495lb Bonneville that now felt like a YZ125 in comparison...

What would you have it look like then? The last trophy had the twin lights in attempt to look different and too many hated it...though I had one anyway. This new one simply looks like what in needs to look like.

Mine apparently connects to nothing since I can only pickup a radio station if it's within a mile or two... going to ask the dealer at my 500 mile service to check this out.

Finally got to sit on one at the IMS. It is just as top heavy as my old Concours was and nearly as bulky forward of the rider as the Wing I have, it also had sort of a smallish top case and not that big of panniers either. Not sure why the top case is built like an ice box with 2" of wasted interior space all around the edges just to make it "refined looking".
After a few minutes with it the factory guy walked over to talk to me and asked how I liked it. I was frank in my assessment of what it was and wasn't to which he said that it was for an existing market just across the isle (aka: BMW booth). I told him it was nice for whomever they made it for but in my opinion it wasn't a sport touring machine anymore than my Wing would be if I Traxxionized the suspension.
We wrapped up our conversation with him noting that the cruisers and classics were getting the most attention at the show with a lesser number of tire kickers looking at the Trophy and Tigers. The Triple and Daytona were bringing up the rear. His observation pretty much matched mine as to what this crowd was looking at but I'm sure that changes city to city.
