Triumph introduces 2010 Thruxton SE

Café racer gets red frame, special color scheme

By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Dec. 15, 2009
Triumph is introducing a special edition version of the Thruxton café racer.

The 2010 Triumph Thruxton SE features “Crystal White” bodywork with a red stripe and matching fly screen. The red striping also matches the powder-coated red frame which stands out against a blacked-out engine case.
Like the regular 2010 Thruxton, the special edition model is powered by a fuel-injected 865cc parallel Twin which Triumph claims produces 68bhp at 7,400 rpm and a peak torque of 51 ft-lbs. at 5,800 rpm.

The 2010 Triumph Thruxton SE is expected to arrive in North America in the spring.

The Thruxton SE is due in North American dealerships in the spring of 2010. Triumph has not announced its price except to say it will come at a small premium over the standard Thruxton.

The Thruxton is among the best looking scoots I've laid eyes on. A bike that looks like that should not be running 13 second quarter miles though. My thoughts, it should have at least 90 ponies.
If only...........well, then I would own one.

Would love to see it with the white/red on the guards/tank/etc etc reversed, just a personal preference. Red frame would dresss that combo nicely.

But agreed on the 90 horses thing.
When too much horsepower is not enough.

The whole trouble with the Bonnie/twin range [except for that Harley copy 1600] is that its kind of like bringing a knife to a gun fight. I don't mind if they continue to sell the 865cc, but they need a 1000-1200cc to go with it and not some huge monstrosity like the aforementioned Thunderbird, but something light, narrow, fast and nimble. And don't tell us it can't be done, there are aftermarket shops out there doing it now!!!!!

And another thing, why would the factory put twin discs on a cruiser [Speedmaster] and not on the gofast Thruxton - some things just don't make sense.

Truimphs answer to these dilemma's seem to be a different paint colour. Kind of like a fat chick dying her hair bright red and painting her fingernails/toenails hot pink [which lately seems to be the answer to weight loss around here]- sorry your still fat!!!

I wondered the same thing, why a single disc on the Thrux and twin discs on the cruisers, I suppose it keeps with the classic look of old school Triumphs ( the single disc does stop the Thruxton ok when you need to ). As for the SE , well , it does have a distinctive look, but I prefer my Thruxton with a touch of bling (chrome), a few more horsies wouldn't go astray but at the end of the day my Thrux is about style and turning heads, no doubt the SE will have the same effect.

At 90mph my Thrux still has plenty to go, although I don't like going any faster on a naked bike like this. I wonder what I would do with the extra ponies if they were there . . .

If you hold an ugly baby and then try to turn off the lights to improve the situation, guess what...the baby is still ugly!

It would be nice if Triumph offered an SE geared towards the engine and not a different coat of paint. I'm not a big fan of the half football helmet shaped gas tank.

Still like the standard colours better. Looks like something Ducati would do in Red & White
