LOL - I like the comment that that they didn't want to make the bike too British - - - I thought that was the point, and appeal of the Triumph?!?! It certainly didn't hurt them in the 1950's...

By making them faster, lighter and easier to shift and operate, the modern bikes tend to ressemble to each other, unlike the old days where the differences were tremendous. To my point of view this new thunderbird is more like a softail than a Triumph. It is different but it wants to please the typical american rider, who wants a heavy bike with a lot of torque.
