BritishMotorcycleGear.com - Bike of the Month winner - April

Charnwood Meteor, with a Triumph Thruxton attached...

There's some very worthy bikes this month so this is an oddity, a Thruxton with a Sidecar. We got this for our then 4 year old son so he could ride along with 'Dad'. It's a Charnwood Meteor sidecar which is based on the drop-tank of a Meteor jet fighter and is colour matched to the bike with the correct check graphics added (all by Dream Machine here in the UK). It has a heavy duty steering damper and an adjustable progressive Hagon shock. Bike is more or less standard - apart from having the sidecar attached!

Jacob loves riding in the sidecar and we attend Hartside biker cafe regularly (about 35 miles away) and visit local shows. It's great fun, but not at all like riding a bike. I've been waiting for a 'Sidecar of the Month' competition but appreciate its a rare breed.

I'm very surprised at this result because there were far better bikes in this months competition, probably nine! Perhaps my rig got the sympathy or nostalgic vote as the only thing I've done is to bolt on a colour matched sidecar!

Whatever the reason, thanks for the votes guys, its very much appreciated.

This has spurred me on to think about changing things once Summer is finished, starting with a FEK, airbox/PODS, Preds (or similar) and a few minor cosmetic changes, i.e. change the front mudguard to black. I may even consider a full fairing if I can get one over here in the UK.

Thanks again.

Congratulations on the win. You got my vote, not because of any real mods. you did, but for the simple reason that the only mod you did -bolt on a sidecar- was to involve your son in your passion for riding. Your son will never forget riding alongside with his Dad when he was a kid. That's priceless.

Congrats!

Wonder how one could get one of those sidecars in the US?

Very nice experience for the boy and his dad.

Congratulations on your win. Beautiful sidecar, and I love the checkerboard (draughts in the UK I believe) trim. Nice to see some black and white photos which often have a more evocative mood than color. You have a fine son and its great that you share this time together.
