If you're like me you've been logging into Triumph's website periodically to see if they've uploaded the 2013 streety into the 'Build My Triumph' tool. As of today, they haven't yet, but i think they are close. Today in my google alerts i got a link from wonder-vision.com (apparently the software company that designs the build my triumph feature) with images of the new street triple all decked out in accessories. Check out the pics!
The panniers and bags look nice, as well as all the other goodies.
I gotta say, that carribean blue looks pretty good too.

I've had 3 people at work that are not riders, but read the bike magazines I leave in the bathroom stall, make similar comments about Triumph screwing up the Street Triple. This new model now looks too much like all the other Street Triple "wannabes" being offered by the other manufacturers, it's lost a lot of it's styling individualism. Makes me so glad I have an original.

The bags...

I would like to see what the mounts look like and if they come off the bike like those trick "bags connection" units from SW Motech / Twisted Throttle. Those things are the shizzy. Hope they update the brackets for the new 13' as I'm sure they are half the cost of the Triumph units. I like the look of the side bags and rear trunk / seat bag from Triumph though. The mounting brackets and ease of removal will be key. Kept my original Triumph tank bag and seat bag. I know the tank bag willl work. Will have to see if I can mod the seat bag to fit the 13'.

I was disappointed, Triumph has the best engineers and this is the best they can do for the 2013s? I was already thinking of brand new bike!!
I'm also glad I got the 2012, lets see what the 14s look like.
I do need some new mirrors that are flush with the bars, I can't split some cars and end up stopped or just inching by.

I'm with you on the 2013s ... I think they could of done better . I wish they kept the high exhaust . Sadly I think the 14s will be about the same . I too love my 2012 R . Pretty much all they did was change the subframe , wheels , exhaust and clocks then added a few lil things and some options . I was hoping the new Striple would of been more Daytona sans fairing . And a high exhaust. ;)

This is just based on parking lot rumor but I have heard that low exhausts are better for the bike. Something about a reduction in weight because of less cans and exhaust piping. The only example I could give is a Yamaha R1 loosing its high pipes when it becomes the MotoGP version. Unfortunately, I don't know if that is a change based on performance or rules.
I will agree though, I have always been a fan of high exhaust, when there is proper heat shielding under the seat.

Yes, much less weight up high. Now lower, centralized and about 8 lbs lighter than stock (one instead of 2). Makes the bike much more nimble i.e. "flickable". The GP exhausts weight nothing (Ti) and so the higher placement isn't as critical as on street kit.

Yeah, and if you have dual underseat Arrows (titanium) instead of fugly stock exhaust on the current model, then what's the point of embracing the new model with it's "mass centralized" exhaust, also ugly as hell? This pipe redesign business was probably driven by emissions regulations in the first place.

This is what i came up with. Will make a nice goal for my incoming black R model. (attached img)
Nice I have a white one on the way.. Seems they are hate it or love it. Is that picture from the configuration? How did you get the undertail all cleaned up, didn't see that as an option.

The configuration is missing a few things as opposed to what they are offering in Europe, mainly the LED indicators is what I'm interested in. Easily found on ebay though so not a huge loss.

hey Grant that looks freakin awesome. Can you do me one in the matte graphite? Just like yours but gray. I'd owe you one.

I love how the new bike looks. I like the lights, i like the low exhaust, i like they new fairings, i like the wheels, i like the subframe. One thing i might do though is paint the new red engine fairing black or gray. I think all that red is a liiiitle to flashy for me.
Seems like overall, people who have the 08, 09, 10, 11, or 12 prefer the styling on their particular model year, and people buying '13 like the new styling. We're all a little biased! I think I'd be happy with any of them and just consider myself lucky to have on on the way.
Here ya go. I love the matte graphite color. It adds a whole different contrast on the black and red. And I agree w/ the red plastic changing to black I'll have to see what it looks like first tho. Picture attached.

Less Red Plastic Preview

I got to thinking about ditching the red plastic for black and wanted a preview. Its rough but gives you an idea of what it would look like. It would look sweet with a red "R" on the black piece. Still waiting to see what other aftermarket exhaust options surface. Also removed the metal notch under the arrow exhaust not sure what thats about.. anyways happy modding and happy holidays!

I'm torn between the grey and white models. I really like the grey, but not sure about the matte finish. If I wanted to go all out changing a brand new bike, I might go with the black, paint the red bits black and start adding gold highlights in all the right places.

:dunno Going to wait until I actually see the bike. Hopefully, they will have all the R colors at the bike show...

I'm late to this party but want to throw in a word or two about the redesign.

It's not surprising that the people who like the older design don't care for the updates. I didn't get one of these bikes before in part because I hated the high exhaust. And I'm interested now because of the low exhaust and the ABS. So it follows logically that someone who likes high exhausts as much as I like the low setup and who hates low exhausts as much as I hate high ones would remain happy with their earlier bike and dislike the new one.

À chacun son goût!

It's all preference. I didn't hate the high exhaust, but it looks bulky to me on such a small, narrow bike. The redesign def caught my eye and after reading all of the changes I was sold. Looks is up to the rider, but no one can deny they've made the bike itself better.

Hi, Syscrush!

Talked to a guy from Chesepeake Cycles while at the show today. He said he had talked to someone from Leo Vince, and they already have a slip-on in the works. The wife really liked the white. We may be twins!

It will make configurating mine much easier. 2013 Striple R, check; belly pan, check; done and dusted. The rest, I'll do myself. I do have to say that the stock mirrors are about the ugliest I think I've ever seen. CRG Arrows on some Rhino Moto adapters/sliders should take care of that lickety-split.

It really annoys me that triumph charge so much for the belly pan and fly screen. They are two very basic add-on's. I'm sure alot of potential buyers don't initially realize they are extras, as alot of the street triple market shots show a bike full of add-on's.

Someone once said to me, "they make the street triple ugly so owners have to spend a grand on plastic bits to make it look decent".

The guy was joking but I'm sure there is truth in it.
