Scrambler as only bike?

I'm selling my 06 Scrambler to my son. I will either be buying a 2010 black EFI or a 2013 matt gray with arrow already installed. I am considering trading in my '09 Tiger. How many of you ride the Scrambler as your only ride? I mainly ride back roads (dirt & paved) and a couple long trips each year. Not sure if I would miss the Tiger or if the Scrambler will fill the bill. I mainly ride the Tiger on the longer trips & cold weather. Any opinions?

Thanks!

I've edited back on how many motorcycles I own to just two, my garage queen 65 TR6 and my Scrambler. So you might say I ride my Scrambler exclusively except for a few bike nights and bike shows each year.
The closest I've owned to a Tiger is a 12GS Beemer.
I have no regrets selling other bikes. It would hurt me to the core to sell my Scrambler.
For me it's the absolute best all around bike to own.

Thanks rmak! I really like my '06 but I'm bringing my son into the riding fold and what better bike than the Scrambler. he was looking at Sportsters but he knows how much I love Triumphs (uniqueness, performance, reliability) so I have no choice but to get another!

scrambler is my only bike..ever..and i have only had it for about 2 months...so my opinion on it doesnt weigh as much as the others...but i love the thing...i live in amherst ny....pretty close to you...if you ever need a riding buddy to travel those dirt and back roads with..i would be happy to join you...i have been looking for some cool off the beaten path roads to travel on.....

Do you have the matte green? If so, I met you at Buck's. I was the guy who said I was looking at that bike. If you're not that guy it doesn't matter. I love the '06 and I know lots of dirt roads & back roads. I live in Attica (Wyoming County). I'll be getting a replacement hopefully this week. My son won't take possession until May anyway.

I have also owned Tiger, but replaced it with a Ducati Multistrada because I wanted "more". I use my Multi in a similar fashion to what you've described for your Tiger. It's my "long distance touring bike". It's fast, handles like a dream, and eats up miles like crazy. It's like a Tiger on steroids.
Still, if I had to give up one for the other, I'd ditch the Multi for the Scrambler in a heartbeat.
On paper, the Tiger will win based on it's stats, but for me the Scrambler just feels right. Sometimes less is more.

Thanks for the info...I agree..the Scrambler just has that wind in your face feel. It reminds me of my first bike...1975 Honda CB 360 back in 1978. (yes I has only one year old..lol) I search for roads on the Scrambler. I did it on the Tiger too but had to pass on too many that were iffy.

The Scrambler is my only bike (not counting the 40yr old CB) and I love it. I liked my sport touring bikes and put over 20000 miles on both of them but this thing is awesome. I plan on keeping it for a while.

You could do a Scram as your only. I love my 09 Scrammy. It handles well, comfortable to ride, gets admiring comments all the time & just plain fun to ride. Have done much touring on it yet. Longest was about 400-500 mile round trip,on secondary roads to a BMW rally in VA. Had to be somewhat creative & restrained in gear taken & packing. I also ride a 96 R1100RT & an02 KLR 650. Between the 3 bikes I've got my bases covered. Have toured on all 3. Love the the luggage capacity, comfort & protection (especially in winter & bad weather),of the BMW but it is pretty heavy & costly to maintain/repair. The Scram & KLR are easier handling & more fun to ride, more the essence of biking. Not sure I could get down to a single bike again but it would be a toss up between the Scram & KLR

My other bike is a Honda ST1300.
I would say the Scram has shown itself to be the clear favorite for 90% of my riding, and it's the one I'd rather be on when I get wherever I'm going on that last 10%.

I will say, though, that the bikes are so different that one makes me appreciate the other all the more. I can't objectively justify owning 2 motorcycles, but it is nice to load up and hop on the big Honda for a trip to the mountains. When it's inside a hundred or so mile radius, which is mostly what I'm doing on a bike- no question the Scram gets the job.

I've a 2000 sprint rs and 2009 efi scrambler both very different bikes with their own merits I probably ride the scram more than the rs it's so much easier to ride, more forgiving and more comfortable. Im less likely to lose my licence due to speeding as well. As for touring I did northern France this year on the scram and enjoyed every minute of it

I have 3 bikes that are so different. A Harley Street Glide, a Street Triple, and my Bonny mag. addition. I'm thinking that I would love to have a Scram. Since I bought the Bonny I haven't hardly ridden the Harley at all. It's great for two up but that rarely happens. I'm considering trading the Harley in on a scram. Love to have one to do a few camping trips on. Just wish my legs were a little longer. I think the Scram would be a great bike to own if I could only have one.

We only have 2 bikes & no car at the moment. They are both great bikes however the scambler just brings out the hooligan in me. We
rode to key west on them and it was a blast as we took the back roads and stayed off the highways. I can't say the Scrambler is my only bike as the Mrs. lets m ride the T-100 from time to time 8)....

I say trade the Harley for the Scram. At least 1/3 the weight, fun to ride & probably way less to insure. Although the Scram is probably tallest of the Triumph classics, it's not that tall. Check but with standard seat, pegs etc it is a seat height of about 31 in.
