Score! Been looking for a scooter for a few months and just picked this up for next to nothing. No title, key or paperwork or any kind but it has spark and good plastic, that's worth the money right there. Not sure of the year but it's a Honda Elite 150 so it can only be one of four years that they made them. If I can't get it running I can easily make money on the plastic and parts. 3K miles, only problem with the plastic is a scratch on the front fender and a broken turn signal which can be repaired. This the very cool, flip up headlight model. It'll be coming in the house tomorrow so I can work on it at my leisure.

I'm not worried about the lack of paperwork unless it turns out stolen. I can register it and get a title in either VT or NH not sure which but it's easy enough from what I've read.
The used exhaust will sell on eBay for more than I paid so if I can't get it running it'll be parted out. I hope I can get it running though. Sounds like it could be as simple to fix as a cheap CDI unit from what I've read online today.

I know you all have been anxiously awaiting an update. Spent the last week waiting on a new exhaust gasket. In the meantime I tweaked the loose airbox issue and got that secured correctly. Also mounted the very cool and aesthetically pleasing top case. The exhaust got mounted last night. Road her into work this morning in the snow, non on the road...I'm not an idiot. The batwing fairing does a good job of keeping the 35mph wind blast off my hands, even at 45 it did a nice job, didn't hit max speed today.

Parked at work...

Didn't wear earplugs today, wanted to see how it sounded. Don't have the buffeting issue of the Tiger and it was nice riding and hearing at the same time. Seems to be some squeaks in the front suspension, hope the wheel isn't getting ready to fall off.

Decided not to bother making a Spacy sticker for the fender scratch. Ordered a "Ride the World" decal from ADV Rider instead.:ride

Whilst I am glad you are able to "ride" to work on the scoot, I am very sad that you, a once avid motorcycle rider/lover, have been turned to the silly side of riding. We warned you, we pleaded with you and here we are today looking at the Batwing express, in all her ugliness, parked in the snow covered parking lot.

The 07 Tiger is dieing slowly in disgrace.

Definitely going to need that sticker. Stopped at Wally World after work and when I was getting ready to leave two mouth breathers were getting into the truck next to me. The driver asked if I wasn't afraid someone would steal my Dewalt tool on the back. I'm serious.

Everyone always says they started on a Harley or something, but scoots like this are closer to the truth. Enjoy!

I showed it how to get there on my first test run with legal paperwork. It was a Sunday and not many around so I didn't have to carry a big stick. I did notice a high school girl checking it out at the gas station a few weeks ago while I was fueling it up. Her dad gave me the stink eye.

Tore into the squeaky speedo issue tonight. Had to pull off a few pieces of plastic under the dash but was easy to access once that was done. Lubed it up and did time trials around the block with my face shield up for awhile. I think the squeak is pretty much taken care of. I'll ride it to work tomorrow to be sure. One more notch in the scoots repair list. So far the notches have been easy to carve. Note: the scoot is more fun with a few beers in the belly. I know, that's stupid stuff but it's a scoot and the garage requires beer to enter.

That, right there, is worth all of the cost involved. Everything else is gravy.

Nice work!

And now your grandson is cruising the parking lot asking "Grandpa, where are all the hot Biker Chicks??? Son probably asked the same.... :)
Get them started young...good to see that he is geared up, too. Bet it keeps Momma happy....

Been awhile since I posted on the scoot. Not for lack of working on it, just not much to report. Got it registered in NY this past weekend and the paperwork was all good so the VT thing works if you want to by an old <300cc bike that's 15+ years old with no paperwork. No hassle, easy peasy, cost $84 in VT and another $80 in NY, NY will issue me a title.
As for the scoot. There's been this niggly squeal in the drive unit I've been trying to figure out. Thought it might be a bearing but that wasn't it. In the process I discovered the drive shaft is slightly bent. I can pick one up off ebay for $30 but I'm not sure that's where the noise is coming from. Simple enough drive to tear apart but I've already spent some time and a few bucks and am considering just waiting till the title shows up and putting it on CL as is. It runs great and if you wear earplugs the squeak isn't a big deal. It's fun to ride and has it's own flare but I'm not sure if I'd really ride it that much and I've got the other two bikes to service before warm weather rolls around. I'm gonna let it sit for a few days I think. I could probably get $700 once the title comes which would pay me for my time and parts. My kids will be p!ssed if I sell it though...

Been awhile since I messed with the scoot and as you probably don't remember I left off with a squeak in the drivetrain. The axle seems to be bent or have a bad bearing. So tonight I bought beer and headed to the garage. Just wanted to remove the clutch and gears and see what's going on in there. Spent 3 hours trying to get the nut off the clutch so I could remove it...it's still tight as a schoolgirl. Heated it, used lube and even bought an el cheapo impact wrench at HF, no love...none at all. That scoot is going to be the end of me I tells ya.:bluduh I just want to find the problem, fix it, and ride the crap outta it. Is that so much to ask?:dunno

Got the clutch off and removed the gears. There's quite a bit of play in the axle even though it seats into the bearing tight so I'm guessing the bearing is where the play is at. Not sure if you can see it in this video or not, shot it with my phone handheld. I'm going to replace that as the suspect part that's causing this annoying squeak.

The gears look great and so do the other bearings. If I replace this bearing and still have the noise it's getting ridden as is and screw the noise. I wear earplugs.

Beautiful scootin weather here today so I took it out for a spin around town. Rode for about 1/2 hour and it seemed slow to accelerate from stops. Got to my destination and damn if there wasn't trans oil all over the tire. Seems the liquid gasket stuff didn't do the job. F@@@@K!!!! Guess I'll be pulling it apart again and just when I'd decided I want to keep it and ride the p!ss out of it. The good news is the squeak went away so I'm guessing the oil on the belt took care of that meaning I probably need a new belt.

Ride. The step daughter and I were at the hardware store yesterday and an old guy (older than me) hauled his propane bottle out to the parking lot and strapped it onto the rack on the back of your scoot. His is an 89 with 45k on it. Silly old coot ask if we wanted to race in the mini. Some guys and their scooters.

You gotta love the attitude right HAP? This was our first warm weekend here (50's) so all the fair weather cruisers were out with get back whips, etc. No way I was going to take the Tiger or DR out, it was scoot weather.:D By that I mean scoots with an attitude, the sort that goes to buy propane and bungie it on the back. Very cool, hope you gave him the scoot salute (still not sure what that is so I'm using the ADV salute until I figure it out). I was planning on scooting a few times to work this week so this was a bummer but dammit, I'm fixin it.
