GREAT 54 mile long ride over and through the mountains of Oklahoma

Yes, 54 miles from the foot of the mountain in Oklahoma to the other side in Arkansas. The road goes over the mountain range with lots of turns and some uphill and downhill straight runs (umm.. 160 when the Harleys were not in the way and about 70 on some of the knee dragging turns). Took an hour to drive through.. had lunch in Arkansas then drove back! Best bike adventure for me! I really recommend it to anyone out there.

A buddy and I went there on our Triumphs. Left Oklahoma City at 7 AM and made it back to Oklahoma City at 8 PM. I must admit, the Daytona footpegs for that many hours caused me to develop plantar fasciitis but now I have some sole inserts in my Icon boots and that's not as much of a problem now (foot doctor wrote me a RX for New Balance NB405 'performance orthotics').

hey, I did the talimena drive a few years ago with my cousin. He has a Sprint that was blue then, but after it was almost destroyed by a tornado near Ardmore, some of his buddies (club members) rebuilt it and painted it purple. Any chance y'all have knowledge of that rebuild?

No, sorry.
You have a Talimena Drive story?
Outside of the ride my other highlights were that I ran over a snake which jumped up in the air and my buddy behind me had to avoid.. and the police flagged us down as we came around a corner at about 80 mph.. but he was just asking us to stop because the road was temporarly closed to let some kids have fun on their skateboards. We thought we were on our way to jail... he had to have heard us comming for a good minute or two.
The other funny thing was how many people came out of their house (on the way there) to see what the noise was comming down the road - it was my Daytona (+140) and the Bonneville (+80) behind me.

na, not much excitment from either of us despite that he has a turbo on his sprint. I think he just didn't want to run off and leave me seeing as how I was on my R1200C.

Here is a picture of us on the drive at one of the many beautiful scenic overlooks. And then one of a very special V-twin we saw when we stopped for lunch. The rider/owner was dressed to match. You can see her pink jacket draped over the windscreen and her chaps matched quite nicely. At least she was wearing the 3/4 helmet you see on her right handlebar.

It was a great two day ride for us from Ardmore to Mena and then back on a more southern route he liked. The down side was a a sleazy motel in Mena. We had to chase cats out of the room but wish we had let them stay when we saw the size of the cockroaches!
