Hey Frider,

I remember a conversation we had a while back about how much mileage you had covered in a day and I am very proud to say that the most I have ever covered in a day has just been increased to 786 which is crazy close to the 800 you once told me you had covered. Just thought I'd share :D

hope you are well,
Vic

Ha.....remember, I gave that lark up in 2000......so my recommendations are already 'old skool' and 'old hat'.......NY.....I tend NOT to ride in our Winters!!!!! ( though somehow I DO seem to ride in the pouring rain still....a lot!!!!)

Plus.....if you saw some of our 'gear/winter gear', back then ( 1980's-late 90's) Heath Robinson ( Mac Guyver??) doesn't even BEGIN to cover it........necessity.....and a pay check IS the Mother and Father of invention!!!!!

My longest day was a little over 800 miles - Scranton, PA to Atlanta, GA on my '99 Sprint ST. Stock seat, rearsets, bars, etc.
Sun was shining on both ends. And I still felt human afterward - which is why I continue to hang on to the Sprint after 13 years. Just haven't found anything better for long distance sport riding.
I've done 500 mile days on a Ducati 748 before. Not something I'd wish on even my worst enemies.
Getting ready to depart from ATL in a few weeks to ride up to NE (VT, NH, ME) and will probably do a few back-to-back 600 mile days to get up there. On my 748, the prospect would be giving me nightmares. But on the Sprint, it'll just be routine run.

I had some steel in my hand for six weeks or so, but fortunately they didn't have to leave any in permanently. :D

Cheers,

Most Distance on a tank of gas...

401.2 Km (244.6 Mi) on 18.7 Litres (4.942 US Gals)

Got very good gas mileage on my recent Saddle Sore rides (3) to & from Denver CO (1200 & 1080 miles) as well as inside Colorado (1052 miles). As long as I kept it between 65 & 75Mi/h I got more then 225 miles (369 Km) per tank.

Managed to cut out one fuel stop on route home.

Not quite as good as OnD...;)
Managed a 1080 mile run at 17:08 hrs including 1:10 in stop time (fuel, maintenance and other breaks).

Cheers!

Pretty impressive...for a 1050.......... :)

Still think the 955 can be even more frugal, than the 1050....... got 277 ( completely bone dry) on a leisurely jaunt back from Salem, last year...mostly 75-85, but did include a (very brief) top gear 157 (GPS) rollon...........( boredom)....

Last July I have covered 1200 km for 18 hours. I was going from Hrvatska to Bulgaria. Most of the time on a highway, but we were crossing borders and traveled in night conditions (which is much tiring). This was the last day of a 9 days and 4200 km jоurney in Europe and I was very pleased of that how comfortable the bike was ('01 ST).

A day I'll never forget

I once in my younger and dumber days rode from Tallahassee to Corpus Christi in one day. This ride should have been about 940 miles but Hurricane Gilberts wind and torrential rains forced me to ride an additional 210 miles out of my way. So I ended up with 1150 miles in 16.5 hours. I was hurting to say the least and to top it off I ended up with a nice blister about the size of a 1/2 dollar on my forehead from my helmet.

I think it was around 1982 that I rode from Bathurst to Brisbane in one go and the next year I rode from Canberra to Brisbane in 14 hours. Those rides were on a 1981 Suzuki GSX 750. On both rides I used a sheep skin to relieve the pressure point and on my ride to Madison Wisconsion and back in August I used a sheep skin again. That ride was 4044 miles round trip. Two and a half days for each direction. No problem with my but, but my knees were happy to get off the bike.
