I just read in the paper that the Pa deer herd has contracted Chronic wasting disease,,,,,,,,,,,,,,best damn news Ive heard in a long time. Sorry to hear about your nasty mishap, deer suck.
Suck...I hope you get lots of good pain killers...
I was very nearly in your shoes last night as I came out of a sweeper to find three of those fokkers staring at me standing on the solid white line on my side of the road...
Bent the bars ,broke the front fender ,lights are pointing two different ways, small dent in the tank. So glad I was wearing my full face. The visor on the Shoei is ruined.
Dr said skin still has blisters so can't open up. Looks like next Tuesday he will put a couple of plates in to rebuild lower knee joint. Best part is I get rid of these darn wood screws holding my leg straight.
Best wishes for a good and speedy recovery. I saw one on I-75 yesterday. Jumped the fence and raced all the way across the highway. That was around 4pm.
Just about got tangled up with a suicidal deer tonight. Heading home just after dark on a 2 lane country road. Car coming from the other direction hit him and he bounced into my lane about 20 yards ahead of me. Swerved onto the shoulder and scrubbed my speed down and by the time I was even with him he was getting up and heading towards me, only a foot away from my front wheel. Grabbed a handful of throttle and GTFA from him before he finished himself off by sticking either his head or leg into my front wheel. I've gotta buy a GoPro and keep it active. This would have made a great video.
Je-ay-zuz Christ Ride! That sounds absolutely crazy. I hope you went back and shot the damn thing. And did you leave something in your under shorts? I would have...
Just a matter of luck on my part. The car knocked it down and I already had deer on my mind so wasn't going too fast. Noticed the cars headlights dip when they braked but didn't see the deer until it was laying in my lane. A matter of feet and seconds with those critters.
So sorry for your accident and I am glad you faired better than the deer.. Orthopedic Surgery has improved greatly over the past two decades...you will be back up and running in no time..
Tremor I hope you're all plated and screwed now. Let us know.... Took 1 plate (eleven screws) to put my tibia/knee/ACL mess back together- Am currently enjoying the torture that is PT, but walking and riding again!
Glad your doing better Mary! Keep up the hard work.
The best I can tell is about 15 screws and 3 plates. I've got to go 6 weeks no weight no movement. 120 days no weight. The good news for everyone in the TriState area is I am allowed to shower now! Phew! All I can say is I have a dam good woman.
The entire east coast is grateful.... I still remember that first shower.... got myself a 5 gallon pail to sit on- didn't care how uncomfortable my bum was.... one of the best showers I've ever had!!!! (I have a dam good man- who scratched my back, cooked and cleaned...)
Yep 120 days no weight- burned up a lot of calories using crutches. I was very fortunate to be allowed movement (metal brace no cast) beginning the day after surgery.. youch! It gets better!
I do have the metal brace which is lighter thankfully. The no movement is because bones were very much shattered and he had a hard time getting the screws to catch.
Tremor, I wish you the best. Hope you heal well. If you can get yourself to Massachusetts anytime soon, we just legalized medical marijuana, sounds like you could use some.
Yerp, keep it illegal, can't have all those pharmaceutical conglomerates losing bottom line.
This subject could have a thread all of its own, and I couldn't imagine the bun fight it would be...
Lee, of all people I thought you would be able to recognise there actually is some medical uses for the dreaded weed.
As for over prescription and abuse, as if it isn't happening with other drugs now?
