What did you do to your twin today?

The Classic triple forum has a thread for daily modifications and shop work. Lets get that going for twins as well.

Today I lowered my T100's rear brake lever. I took the pin out, the master cylinder off and adjusted the bucket and locknut. Now I won't be beside my brake pedal on that bike, I can be above it, ready to use it just a tiny bit quicker.

I also painted the worst-off gas cap I had, black. So I can ride on sunny days without being blinded by my own bike. - my sun visor is in the helmet, and comes down from the top so I get nice glare off the clocks and tank... :(

Rode over to my buddy's with the fully equipped garage and changed the oil and filter, then spooned on a set of Anakee 2's. On the way home I gassed up, poured in a little Stabil and then put her in the garage on her tender till spring. She will be all ready to go come spring!

Did 2 things to my 07 Bonnie Black today...

- Had cam cover oil weep so I replaced the 4 sealing washers...hardest thing about this job was getting the old ones out. Two did not come out cleanly so had to gently scrape out the remaining rubber bits and then cleaned up surfaces. Torqued the bolts to spec (14nm).

- Since I got some used open flowing exhausts (Wassell teardrops) a couple weeks ago, was experiencing slight surging. Replaced the stock main jets with 115s. While I was at it, also replaced the carb screws with the stainless steel hex ones. Was worried about stripping/getting philips heads out, but didn't have any problem. Squirted them with PB blaster and all came out easily. Toughest one was getting access to left carb inside back bowl screw. Very tight in there with the idle screw tube and breather tube in the way. Disconnected breather tube to get at it. Obviously would've been easier with carbs off or rotated, but didn't want to mess with them if I didn't have to.

Problem now is weather is turning crappy here for the next few days in Colorado so I'll probably have to wait a few days to test things out.

Oh yea, thanks to this site (and Haynes manual) for giving me the confidence/info to do this.

Went for a ride down to the local SCA for some of catrols finest, Tried out the Quick drain I fitted last change. As I have to remove the skid plate it dosn't really save much time but avoids on the possibility of stripping the drain plug. In went the 5w40 synthetic and she's all ready for the next 12 months.

Today I swapped my gearing back to a 17/45 - almost equivalent to running a 16 on the front with the stock 43 on the rear and then went out for a 50mile spin.

Despite having tried 17,18 & 19 on the front paired with either a 43 or 45 rear on the rear, this is the one combination that always brings out my widest grin.

Rode it

Rode mine to a small show in Mobile AL. Mobile Bay Vintage MC had their show outside Fort Conde. Several nice old machines. Here are most of the Triumphs.

New Tires and cush drive last weekend. Michelin Pilot Activ front and rear. Change of pace from the Avon Roadriders. No problem with the Avons, 12K rear , 26K front.

The fresh cush drive blocks took all the slack out of rear sprocket. (1/4 to 1/2 inch rotational slack at the sprocket teeth)

Also, cleaned the light switch to get the Hella driving lights going for the dark season.

All back to 100% at 69,800 miles.

Spent a few hours last night doing intake and jetting mods on my Scrambler.
First I opened up the airbox and removed the baffle. Note: if you haven't done this already, save a lot of hassle and start off by removing the exhaust. This makes it much easier to get the side of the airbox off and also to get to the carbs for jetting.
Now the AI, snorkle, and evap system are gone. Air filter retainer has been opened up and jets have been adjusted accordingly.

Now if it will stop raining today I can take advantage of a day off and go for a ride!
