How Long For R/R Replacement (Recall)?

Anybody here have their Striple/D675 into the dealer for the R/R recall? How long did it take before the dealer received the parts and performed the work?

I contacted the local triumph dealer regarding the recall. they said that they would order the part and get back to me once it was in. this was many weeks ago and i havent heard back from them.

when i originally called them about it, they had me send an email to the service department, who of course never got back to me. after a few weeks, i finally went into the store and spoke to them, and that's when they told me they would order the part and get back to me. i do remember then mention something to the effect that the rate triumph pays them for the work doesn't come close to the actual work done.

at this point, i don't know whether the wait is real or they're just d*cking around because they don't want to do the work. any light you can shed on your experience with the recall would be appreciated.

I got it done last week. Took my local dealer two days to get the part and 45 mins. to swap it out.

Sounds like your dealer sucks at customer service, which is more common than not, they pay those guys peanuts. Just keep calling them on a daily basis until they get tired of hearing from you. Or try to get the owner on the phone.

Recall Letter

I've never had a problem either with my 2010 StripleR, but I got the recall letter today so I am going to call the dealer and see what they say. I just rolled 20,000 miles on my bike and other than a dead battery (bad core, not bad charging) I have had zero problems.

Also: I freaking love my bike!

Will report on the dealer's response. Dealer is Foothills Triumph/BMW in Denver.

I expect little jobs like that to be done while I get myself a coffee. Ride in/Ride out tyre replacement, chains and sprockets..... Not worth getting your tools out and your hands dirty for as long it takes the dealer to do the job.

Even the 12K service is completed the same day as long as the bike's dropped off early. Get a choice of whatever's in the showroom to ride while they're doing it. An expensive service, but a day riding something different weighed against three days work at home (2 days to do the job and a day chasing the right size shims) takes a lot of the sting out of the price. And I get the R/R changed out with the next service.

Dealer service levels don't seem so hot out your way! In NZ, my Triumph dealer, who is 170 km away from where I live rang me to say that they had some replacement R/R's in stock and when would I like to bring it in? Took them just under an hour from arriving to riding off. Photos of the process here: http://geoffjames.blogspot.co.nz/2012/08/rectification-and-rapid-ride.html.

Absolutely delighted with the level of dealer support. Last time I took it there for a full service, I was offered a demo Ducati Streetfighter to play on whilst they did the work. Doesn't get much better than that!

thanks for all the help gents. you pretty much confirmed what i expected... just to be sure, gave them a call today to follow up, and they said they'd get back to me. surprise, surprise; they didnt...

i can understand if they don't want to do the service because they don't feel like they're compensated enough for it by triumph. but it's pretty inexcusable to play this stupid game for almost 3 months. that's total b*ll****. then again, these guys these guys have a reputation for being ********...

I called my dealer today, and after a few minutes on hold the service guy said they had 3 R/Rs in stock, when could I bring it in? So I am getting it swapped tomorrow at 10 am when they open (winter hours doncha know). He said it would take about an hour.

So. Will it be as easy as that? I sure hope so because tomorrow Denver might be breaking a record for the highest temp recorded for the date if it hits 74°F like they say it will.

UPDATE: Got the R/R replaced in about an hour. They also found an oil leak which turned out to be the gasket on the clutch cover. Since my bike is out of warranty that cost me $160, which was mostly labor including the diagnostic time (ouch) but it needed to be done. The R/R was free of course and I can see the new black one in it's different location. Bike runs fine. I am happy with their service. They also said they have two more R/Rs in stock.
