It's getting closer to "Moto Camping season" at least in this part of the world, so what are you touring on this summer? I'm using my 1996 Daytona Super III this summer.

How is that for distance riding? Our touring this summer will be on my Thruxton (me) and Speed Four (her). Longest trip planned is the week long Yellowstone jaunt, about 1300 miles.

It is not too bad, I re-built the thing two winters ago, put 6,000 mi. on it last summer (no touring) did a couple of 300 mi. days on it last summer and did just fine. Fuel mileage is right at 40 mpg. where I can get 50 mpg. on the Sprint, just have to watch those out of the way places with no gas stations a little closer.

Just got back from Motos in Moab. First big trip, rode from Vegas. Definitely need to invest in a grab rail and/or panniers and proper motorcycle luggage. Sitting with your groin against the tank is interesting for a 900+ mile round trip.

Have a few big trips planned for the Thruxton R this summer. I think the longest will be Yosemite. Just finished welding up the luggage racks for it, and hoping the dual seats are available soon. Would be nice to get the big cowl out of the way for "touring" mode. Being able to use the back of the seat will be nice.
@Cafenoir I did that ride last October, LA to Vegas, Vegas to Bryce, Bryce to Moab, avoiding freeways where possible. Absolutely some amazing riding through there. We caught rain for the first 3 days which was a bit of a bummer but would do it again if given the chance.

Nice man, Vegas to Bryce sounds like a great ride. The 70 has some nice 5th gear big winding roads though for the ride to Moab. We did catch rain a couple times and had to stop under an overpass for hail.

Be sure to post pics of those luggage racks when you're done!

After our what turned into an unforgettable 1700+ mile trip on my Thruxton and her Speed4 last summer, I've acquired an '06 Sprint ST for distance duties, and will probably buy one for the gal too. Our plans are to tour WY, MT and SD (probably NE too?) this summer on the two Sprints.

Here we are at a stop on our tour last summer (7 days, 1700 miles):

Moto touring

This is my Bonnie "Imphal" 'bout a day before 2700 mile tour of Normandy and Somme battlefields followed by a blast to the sun in Provence then back to Ulster.
Those ammo boxes take a lot and are 100% waterproof, the rack took care of the camping equipment in a roll/dry bag.

I have now acquired a Speedmaster with full set Hepco & Becker luggage to take the Mrs with me, (I'll probably end up living out of the tank bag?)
