Just bought a 00' Sprint RS 2 weeks ago. Found out the hard way the low fuel indicator didn't work. Ran out of gas. Got gas back in tank and now the Check engine light is on??? Any ideas as to why??? Bike runs same as it did before I ran out.... Anybody know if there is a code scanner I can buy for it too...

Other Motorcycle: Can't afford two!
Extra Motorcycle: Three would be insane
This is quite normal IIRC you will need to have 8 complete warm-up & cool down cycles before this warning will clear itself. They need to be full warm-up cool down and not just stop/start.

Thanks again,

It does come on if you run out of fuel, probably because it sensed a fuel mixture problem.

If it doesnt go out after say 10 warm up cycles I woudl take it to the dealer for a checkup.

:-D Just a quick update. The check engine light went out after 2 complete warm up and cool down cycles... no more problems.

Any idea on where to get an owners manual except from the dealer???
