I was cruising along and all of a sudden I felt a loss of power. Gave it throttle and that didn't help. Must be running out of gas I thought? Seems too soon but I put it in reserve and pulled into a side street to stop and turned off the bike. A quick glance and things seemed to be ok. Put the petcock bag to on and started her up. Seemed fine so I did a uturn and pulled back out onto the original street. About 20 seconds later I felt a loss of power again but was coming up to a gas station. I pulled in just as the engine sputtered to a stop and rolled up to the pump. Perfect. So i filled her with gas, took 3 gallons exactly. Started her up and just as she came to life, she died again. Tried to start again and nothing. So i rolled off to the side of the building, sat there for a moment thinking, then put her in reserve. Started up fine. Idled for a couple minutes then took off. Put it back to the on position and was good for about 20 seconds before it started to lose power again. Back to reserve and everything is fine. Hmmm... starting to see a pattern now.... Got to my destinination (10 miles later), then turned around and made it all the way back home on reserve with no issues. Then the next day I made it 25 miles to the dealer on reserve with no problem.
They said it was hard to diagnose but they finally got it heated up enough to find out it was an electrical problem. Some electrical pick-up I think they said. Which of course had to be ordered. So no bike till next weekend. Bummer.
Anyone understand what they might be talking about?
