Good idea. Why didnt I think of that? Then the exhaust fabbing wont cut into riding time. The new rear fender and taillight you blessed me with will be my only obstacle. Hope it warms up so we can get goin on the paint. Wish I could join you on the 12th. I might still be able to pull it off. Timing is the only issue.

No sarchasm -- envy! Been watching for a set of steamer Tiger headers. Suposedly these are bolt ons. Presumedly due to round exhaust ports. The pics of yours are round though. Hmmm...the rest can be worked out -- eventually. Then the D&Ds go bye-bye.

So, mid pipes made from an exhaust shop, or are there specialty outfits that do a tighter job? Then have the prototype done up in stainless? How would/are you doing/planning it? Global question here....

Mojo- I would say they are mostly bolt on. Have to remove the 2 mounting brackets that hold the shield to the headers(not too bad). The flanges that bolt the pipes to the head are different. The one for the Tiger pipes are a one piece fixed flange that is welded to the pipes while there are three individual loose flanges for the stock headers. The bolt pattern for the TBS head are parallel to the ground when the bike is standing up straight while the bolts for the Tiger are about 45 degrees from horizontal. Will need a plasma cutter or torch to modify the Tiger header flange to fit up. Otherwise looks like it will fit up without any clearance issues. Will probably just pick up some Stainless tubing stock and a couple J-bends to fab the mid pipe and crossover pipe for the left muffler. The Tiger's midpipe is(or looks like) a Catalytic converter or resonator, which I dont want. This header I picked up is not in the best shape cosmetically so I anticipate a lot of polishing ahead of me.

The headers you have are form a fuelie Tiger, correct? Supposedly the steamer/carbed headers are drop ons. I think the early sport trip's are also the same (but have neither on hand to confirm). Interesting on the flanges, as round ISN'T the issue. You might just make up a butch plate patterned off of you head (thick, one layer, cardboard and a small ballpeen to make the edges cut clean while on the head). Just weld the finished plate to the existing header flange, cut off the excess (old flange), and done. It will be the 1/8-1/4" further forward, but that will not matter (preusming radiator clearance), as you will be making up the rest anyhow. Just my thoughts.
