Float height setting for 1200 Trophy?

This is also posted in the Sport and Touring forum but I thought I might get more info here.

I have replaced the float assembly o-rings on my carbs due to flooding and want to set float height correctly. The manual calls for 14.5mm for the Mikuni carbs but I read Daytonacharlie's post and he set his to 19mm(different model Triumph, same carbs). Has anyone done this on their Trophy and what did you find the best setting was?

Thanks, McG63

The correct height is the height that delivers the correct amount of fuel for your setup. That being said, 14.5mm is the standard setting & should be a good starting point.

Had an XS1100 once that worked out to need to be lower than spec. As long as it flows well in all normal conditions (banking, uphill, downhill) it's all good. Similarly, a friend had issues years ago with the carb in his truck. And that particular carb was considered a good off road choice. He just lowered it until it stopped flooding out.
