Spark Plug Washer Stuck!

Hi All

Removed all three spark plugs this morning on my '06 S3, two came out with washers the third washer is still attached to engine and won't shift. I have tried to lift it with a telescopic magnetic thing but it looks as though it is corroded on.
It is on the left of the engine and partially obscured by the frame on that side, so tool access is not as easy as the other two. From what I can see the surface looks OK.
So should I:
1. Defiantly remove it, if so how?
2. Leave it and screw new spark plug in without new washer
3. Leave it and screw new spark plug in with new washer
4. Any other ideas?

thanks all!

Can you pry it loose with a (dispensable) small screwdriver and then lift it out? Maybe stuff a piece of rag in the hole first to keep the little bits out.

Try spraying a bit of penetrating oil on it to help loosen things up. Definitely place a rag over the hole. Try and hook with a small bent screwdriver or seal removal tool (looks like a dental pick).

Plug washers are designed for crush, so I'd recommend getting that removed

Thanks guys

looks like it has to go, I'll try to get a dental pick / similar down there, a screwdriver just does not seem to have any effect.

The problem is trying to get something underneath to hook it out, it's at the bottom of a 6" deep by 1" dia hole, so maneuver room is very tight. I'll let you know how I get on.

I`d try tapping it first as mentioned, then re insert the plug and see if it picks up on the threads, or re insert the plug till hand tight, then tap and wiggle the plug.
Best of luck
