I can't believe what I did tonight! I put down my Legend on it's left side at very low speed, (less than 5 mph). The bike doesn't look too bad off, although I need to get a better peak in daylight. (no physical damage to me ... just emotional).

Something is really puzzling me though - although it seems that everything is connected, I cannot restart the motorcycle. It has plenty of juice (lights come on, etc.) but when I try to start it, it won't even turn over or anything. Zero response. Seems like an electrical thing maybe.

At this point I'm probably going to just get it in to my Triumph shop. I'd like to hear if there is anything else in particular that I should get checked after putting a bike over like that. Worried about fluids going somewhere they are not supposed to, that sort of thing.

...sure you didn't hit the kill switch on your way down?
(I know it's WAY TOO OBVIOUS, but hey......)

I posted this on the Hinckley Forum also. A couple fellas there also suggested the kill switch. If you are referring to the big red cut off switch on the right grip, then yes I've definitely tried it. If you are referring to something else, I'm probably missing it ...

thanks for the help.

I've heard tipovers on the sprints can get oil in places it shouldn't be - creating a hydralock type condition within the engine. Folks usually recommend removing spark plugs (cleaning them) and hand turning things over to make sure things are cleaned out. No idea if this would be the same on Legend.

Any chance the sidestand switch or something like that was damaged in the fall?

I've dropped my Sprint twice (***** sand!) but in both cases I had her up in a split second using those special Super Powers one gets when such things happen. Thanks for the info on the plugs- I had no idea, having never dropped my Honda.

Don’t know about the Legend but on my Sprint there are switches on the clutch, neutral gear and side stand. They must be in the right position to start the bike. Is it possible that any of these have been damaged?

It sounds like its hydolocked. Do not try to start her like this as there is great possibility of damage if you do.

I cant remember the procedure - check with your dealer- for curing but removing the spark plugs and cranking by hand rings a dim bell somewhere. If memory serves me right it has to do with oil getting above the pistons.

You will most likely need to clean out air filters etc as well.
