removing clutch and alternator step by step instructions please anyone

Juts bought a nw chrome clutch cover and alternator cover for my thruxton. from what I have read it seems that it is a job you can do yourself. I can't really find a step by step clear instruction on how to do it and honestly don't want to spend big bucks for a shop to do it if its a simple thing.

Can someone tell me, show me with pics or something how to do this job would be much apreciated.

The Haynes manual would be money well-spent, and isn't very expensive compared to what you likely paid for the parts. You won't regret it.

+1 Haynes manual.
And a torque wrench. The Haynes manual doesn't give torque values, but http://www.bonnevilleamerica.com/downloads.html at the bottom of the page you'll find a link to download.
Should be simple to do.

changing cases

jg',

Before we even 'kick a ba' here, you also need new gaskets for the covers, buy them before you take the cases off. Is your primary cover bare or complete? Are there bearings and seals in the primary case, is there a clutch lift arm? There is also a difference in the breather arrangement between later covers and older ones, you may have to fit the breather bits from your old case into the new one if you have the old style breather. It's easy enough if you have basic home mechanic skills, you'll know your own abilities. If your not sure, maybe the shop's a good idea.

Anyhow, once you get that lot sorted, for the other side you'll need some threadlock for the generator stator bolts. It helps if you undo the cable clips to give you some slack when removing that case, there are little lugs to tap to break the initial seal. You'll have to carefully remove all the old gasket material. When I pulled my cases to polish them, I drained the oil first because I was changing the oil anyway. You'll need a bit of silicon goo for the generator wire's grommet.

A manual is a good idea, the above is just from memory, but the other guys out there who've done this might like to fill in the bits I missed.

Clarification

The Haynes Bonneville, etc manual does have torque values, at the beginning of each chapter, for the areas covered in that chapter. I just checked mine.

about the haynes

would some one be kind enough to scan those pages in and put them up on for all to see. I am sure many have the same problem, would be a big help if you could?

You have to be careful with the starter gear shaft which lines up with the clutch cover and goes into the engine case. Could cause a major problem if misaligned. My case and cover broke due to this shaft breaking the cast aluminum, and I hadn't even been in there! Apparently just changing the cover you could possibly cause a similar failure.
