Hi,

I hope somebody can help me? I have picked up an early Trophy-3 mounting for an oil cooler. (as fitted to the early Trophy; Daytona; optional extra on Speed Triple T300 triples).

Would somebody have photos of the fixings onto the engine, that I could view? Perhaps a measurement between the 2 arms as well?

I think the mounting I have been given as a 900 Trophy 3, is perhaps too wide (perhaps for a Trophy 4?)?

Here is something to think about before adding an oil cooler. How hot is your oil now?? Most motorcycle engines take a pretty warm day to get their oil up into a range of being too hot. I used to live in Tucson and still on a 110 degree day would not let the oil exceed it's operating temp.

Before adding a cooler, check your oil temp with a simple guage. I bet it's within the tolerance of the oil.........

Hi John,

Sound advice, and I have to largely agree with you.

There are some other considerations depending on your weather extremes, occassional traffic density, road/track and state of engine tune, and I guess this is why some of the models have them fitted? My own reason is that I like a project (and I think it may elongate the engine life for me too).

I have not received any feedback yet - please help! The mount is 39.5 cm wide, which is approx 15.5", if that helps?

Hi Geoff,

After 2-3 years I'm finally going to re-assemble my Trophy 900. It's currently stored somewhere in the back of the garage, but I'm getting it out next weekend. If you still need them, I can provide you with pictures of the engine mountings for the oil cooler frame. Basically they're 2 simple brackets connected to the bottom of the engine. I can meaure the frame width already this evening.
