I'll be away from the bike for a month or two periodically. Which model would you suggest? Junior, Plus, or other?

I use a junior, I have one for each bike. Works fine.
The Battery will go dry if you leave it connected for a long period of time (all winter without checking the battery)

Junior. This is a definite case of "less is more". You're looking for a maintenance charge, not bringing a battery back from the dead. Besides, the Junior is the cheapest one that you can use with AGM and gel batteries as well as the conventional wet ones.

Ok...I see they make 12v and 6v - I want 12v, right?

Also, does the Jr. come with a quick disconnect?

Ya 12 Volt. I bought mine 4 years ago, and it came with quick disconnect.
i am not sure if the packaging is still the same.

Last year I bought a little solar panel charger on ebay, for about £10 or US$20. It worked out really well over the winter. The charge rate is miniscule but it was enough to keep the battery topped up, it even came with a quick disconnect fitting. It helps if you have a suitable roof to position it on, they are not much use indoors, even by a window.

I bought a junior last year and a new AGM battery (the lack of a battery tender is why I needed a new battery) and the junior is just fine. It did come with the quick disconnect but I believe they are also available separately if you need to do more than one bike, sell it etc...
