Other Motorcycle: 91 Zephyr 750
Heat (from a hot air gun or hairdryer ) helps, but don't overdo it.
Once you have the plastic film off WD40 should take off the residue. I have also seen people recommending mayonnaise or peanut butter (? ) to renove the adhesive.

Any I have had have just peeled off then some normal polish takes the residue away. no marks and no sign of it ever being there in the first place.

Bunny, you are not too far from me. I have a 3M stripe remover that will take that right off w/o hurting the paint. If you would like, we can meet next weekend and I can remove that decal for you.
