Thanks everybody. I Borrowed my neighbors hairdryer and it came off in about twenty seconds. There is very little residue left. I am going to try WD-40 for the rest of the job because I am afraid of Goo-gone. Hey Hinkley I'd be happy to meet up with you sometime. Saturdays or Sundays after noon are best. e-mail me. :smug:
The absolute best thing to take off the residue is TurtleWax Bug and Tar remover in the pump spray bottle. It is not harmful to paint and does not even require rinsing like most removers. Spray a little on, wipe it around with your finger, let it sit for a minute, then wipe it right off with a damp rag. Amazing stuff. You usually have to buy it at an autoparts store like AutoZone or Discount. My stickers were over a year old when I took them off.

I used WD-40 and the whole job took about twenty seconds. I can't believe that I have been riding around for 2 and a half years with that ugly thing on my tank. It truly took no effort at all. :hammer:

I just fired up the wife's hair dryer, warmed up the decals, and off came the two tank decals. Goo Gone took off the remaining adhesive, then a coat of wax. The tank looks great... like the decals were never there.
Thanks for the tips!
