Hi Folks,

I started a thread on this in the ST forum, but it is getting quite techincal now, so here I am!

Firstly, is there anyone out there who has done this???

I think I have narrowed it down to two areas of trouble  ...

1 exhaust - It's a different bore, 3-1 shape and path

2 tune - Daytona tune = no fuel gauge

For the exhaust I had a pleasant Friday afternoon in the local dealers, measuring Daytona and ST pipes.

The good news is the cans appear to be pretty much the same (couldn't check the internals) Length, Diameter and bore of entry pipe (ignoring the reducer section on the front of the ST can).

The bad news is the Daytona 3-1 header runs further back under the right side of the engine before it becomes 1. I think this means some surgery to the lower belly pan, but I will have to make up some cardboard mocks to check this.

The second piece of bad news is that the 3-1 section is longer than the ST. The point where you can cut the 1 part and make a link is also much further back. My plan was to cut the 3-1 just after the pipe becomes 1, kink it back in towards the centreline, then back out and up towards the pipe from the ST end can. A bit of modification to remove the reduced section of pipe from the end can and "bob's your uncle" etc.

This would give me the 'looks-like-an-ST' that I'm after, and more importantly I would still be able to move the pipe to fit the panniers, but this kink in and kink out is looking like 45deg in , 22.5deg back, and 30deg kick up in quite a short run. Does this sound restricting?

It might be possible to run the pipe like the Daytona, but I'd loose the adjustment for panniers and I think I would have to remove the centrestand.

On the map side I am aware that the Daytona doesn't have the fuel sender signal. Is it possible to use Tuneboy to turn this on?

Or alternatively, would it be possible to use the ST map as a base, and alter all of fuel mapping to the figures in the Daytona map, leaving the Fuel sender signal in place?

Anyone got any answers please?

What do you think? Should I give up on those extra ponies now, or carry on?
