I have a 1/2 inch Torque wrench, and I need to be able to fit it with a standard hex bit so that I can torque down my handlebars. Does anyone know the size of the socket I need to hold the bit?

I have a set of 1/2" drive allen keys, something like this. They can be bought pretty much in any tool shop.

If it is allen key sockets you are looking for, Harbour Frieght has them in 3/8 drive for about 7 dollars. Don't know what size the bonneville is, I have them and they go pretty big to smaller than you would need. They also have an adapter set that will take your 1/2 to 3/8 for about 5 or 7 dollars, I can't remember. The set has multiple pieces and goes all directions, but don't use them in high torque roles. I broke the 3/8 to 1/4 in a borescope plug for a turbine and it really ruined my night. Just be sure to get the metric allen set.

sorry to double post, but I love tools. If money is not a problem, mabey get a 3/8 or 1/4 torque wrench. 1/2 drive is pretty diesel. don't buy one from harbour freight though, I don't trust any mesuring tools there. Have any of you actually held 2 rulers or tape mesures together from harbour freight? might explain the U.S.'s lack of home construction quality lately! :wow:

Socket to hold the bit? Are you saying you have a torque wrench and a hex key, aka allen key?

You need hex sockets.

and quite possibly an adapter set.

Thanks, Kubihibi! Actually, I do have regular allen wrenches, but I also have some of those removeable screwdriver-type bits in allen form. I was wondering if something was made for a torque wrench that held those bits.

What I actually need, however, is what you pictured. I didn't even know it existed. I'm going to pick some up.

In the meantime, I just rode over to my dealer and asked the mechanic to tighten the 4 bolts for me.

A 1/4" or 6mm socket should work with screwdriver bits.
