Anyone know about the Rand Tyre changer? I picked one up for $50 but it seems somewhat rough 'round the edges, especially the wheel clamps. Looks like they'll damage the rims, as they have no plastic and will mark anything they touch. Though for that kind of money and cheap online tyres the effort ought to be worthwhile. Plus it's an excuse for a beer - not that one is needed! :-g

Have anchored the changer to the floor in the garage, and managed to get off a damaged wheel(sprint front), a tyre. The difficult part is getting the tyre back on, popping the bead over has been a chore to say the least. But with rim protectors and a helping tyre lever(plus the provided lever) all seems to be a matter of practice.A set of 208's cost $200 to the door,$15 for lead and valves I think in the long term I'll save oodles - rigging a balancer will be the next event - which will be lubed with ample bevs &
much fun to boot. Feeling chuffed with myself & wished I'd done this before! :-g
