Does anyone know if home warehouse places like Lowes or general locksmiths can make spare keys for our ignition? My brother-in-law just bought a Legend and only got one key.
Thanks

I had no luck at hardware stores, but I did well at locksmiths. It only cost about $2.50 a key. For my bonneville the locksmith used a kawasaki key blank for the ignition and some kind of scooter key for the steering lock. Hope that helps

A good locksmith will have or can get blanks - forget about hardware stores and even dealerships. I had a 2004 Suzuki and the steering lock was German and the blank had to be purchased from the German manufacturer. What good is a key code tag when the dealers don't have the blanks or the patterns to make keys with?

I ordered a pair of spare keys from my dealer. They cost me $20 and took about 1.5 weeks to get. They had my V.I.N.# in their system and used that to order the keys form the factory and they work perfectly.

I had the same problem with my used 02 ST. One key each for bags and ignition. Locksmith determined that bag key is a Kawasaki blank. Two locksmiths couldn't find a blank for ignition on their wall of blanks. Bought ignition blank from dealer (about $11), had locksmith cut it. Note that the Triumph ignition blanks are steel, some locksmiths will not cut steel blanks.

I was at my local locksmith store getting some house keys made. I was on the bike (1999 Legend). I had only one key. What the hell, I asked them if they could find a match. It turned out the be a BMW car blank. It will work the ingition but won't lock the steering. At least I have a spare.

Try this website for key blanks...I purchased blanks from them. When I purchased my 1999 Adventurer, I only got one key. I then had a local hardware store make the key. The blanks aren't "perfect" but they are close enough to turn on the ignition.
