Hello everybody. I am new at the forum. I bought recently a 98 955i. I changed the plugs yesterday and the removal and intallation of the air box was a pain in the back. I am thinking in replacing the air box with pods. Does anyone know the part number for K&N filters or unifilters or any pods that could fit the 955i? :-D
thank you. Emilio.

Why not put FCR's on the bike, they work with pods fine! :-D

Hey trypcyl:
What are FCR's :???: . Teach me. I recently sold a Kawasaki ZRX 1100 with pods and I loved them, that is one of the reason I want to install the pods on the 955i .

You know it really will run bad, if at all. Don't do it. Just forget you ever had the idea.

FCR = flat slide carb.

Well, It is running very bad now with the air box. I will post another thread asking for advice. The bike was sitting in a garage for a long time. The former owner told me that maybe the injectors are dirty. If you are running the bike at a steady speed, it suddenly the rpm go down until the engine stalls. I have no idea what is happening. I just changed the plugs and It did not improve at all. The bike still stalls. :cuss:

FCR's are carbs - really why would you put pods on a Fi engine, when the airbox is going to be part of the design of the engine and it's fueling. Typically even with non Fi bikes, pods create jetting issues. So imagine the can of worms you'd open adapting the 955i to pods - as Martinyoung suggests......... though that said I've heard that FCR's have been put on a Fi Daytona(1998) to good effect but that was back when Mickey Cohen, then of Orange county Triumph was campaigning the bike to much success and the Sagem brain was having issues and a return to Carbs seemed a viable option. But don't let any of this hold you back. :razz:

I just like pods and you have easy access. Any way my main concern is that the bike is stalling after 2 minutes of ridding.
When I had the my Kawasaki ZRX I intalled pods, I did rejet, and I changed needles and springs, and yes you spend some time trying to find the right setup.

Yes but the ZRX doesn't run a pressurised airbox or fuel injection. The ZRX motor responds exceptionally well to an open intake. The Daytona will not. You are not comparing apples with apples here.

I would suggest that your problem is probably dirty injectors as you have said, or maybe just old fuel. Get rid if what is in the tank, replace with new and add Silkolene PRO-FST. This will help clean up the fuel system, but you may still need to have the injectors ultrasonically cleaned.
