My 98 ST stalled again, this time with a full tank of gas, I started it back up and got to where i was going with out any other problems. On my way back home (about 8 miles) it stalled again, I pulled over and hit the kill switch then turned it back on, the temp gauge went nuts (needle went all the way up and hit the side of the guage), User interface lights started to flicker (very dimly) and the starter didn't work at all. I played with the kill switch a few more times and got the gauges and lights to return to normal, bike started, and started my way home very carefully. stalled again, this time i started it back up while rolling. It probably stalled another 5 or 6 times in the 5 miles back home but only when i pulled in the clutch for a length of time (but not every time I pulled in the clutch).
What should i do to sort throught this? what are the possiblities? I bought the bike used 2 months ago and had it serviced 600 miles ago (3 weeks). It has 23,000 miles on the clock, new oil, new radiator fluid, new brake fluid, EFI remapped (much improved), have run some Injector cleaner in it.
Any help would be appreciated, I've never worked on bikes before (this is my first real bike) and would like to try to work through at least the easy checks myself.

We're having similar running problems with our EFI tigers, they could be related.
You say you've had it remapped, I take it that it was the latest Triumph tune, if so was the bike running ok before that?.

I posted this on the Tiger forum - thought it may be of some help.
My bike started fine this morning but after riding for about 5 minutes, it stalled at the first set of lights I came to and would not idle. It seemed to want to idle at about 200RPM, so that when I shut the throttle, it just stopped running (as opposed to stalled). It started and ran fine after this but the motor died if I shut the throttle. I rode straight to my mechanics place and had to wait about 10 minutes until he arrived.
I tried to show him, but the bike started and ran perfectly - of course. He knew exactly the problem. He said that the current 955 ECUs need a few seconds of power to get sorted out. I think they self check and also cycle the idle stepper motors. He said that I had probably turned on the ignition and started the bike immediately that morning. He said this confused the ECU and the bike runs fine but may stall and do other weird things. The answer is to turn off the ignition, turn it back on - wait at least 5 seconds, and restart.
He said that I should ALWAYS turn the ignition on and wait 5 seconds and I should hear a click from under the seat before hitting the starter button. I can't actually hear the click as I have a gel seat and a sheepskin.
THIS WAS TOTALLY NEWS TO ME!!!!!! And I actually trend to read owner manuals and that type of stuff.
He also said that the bike should be stopped with the ignition key and not the kill switch.
Maybe the cold start problem is this?

My speed triple (this is the 885 not the 955 btw) ran fine before the EFI remap, just took more work by the right hand to ride it smoothly. I saw a big improvement after the remap, even reduced the 3,000 - 4,000 rpm vibration some.
I assume it was the latest tune, but i'm not possitive that is the case. regardless its better than it was (when its running!)
You Tiger issue TimTiger sounds exactly like what my Speed Triple was doing. I usually turn the key and leave it on for a while before I start the bike (I can hear the noise under the seat and wait for it to stop before i start my bike).

One more thing for you Tiger guys, Does your Engine Management light come on when your bike stalls or turns off? Mine does. I haven't been able to get through 3 heat cycles without a stall to see if it will turn off either.

No it doesn't. I think the engine management light means a real fault - although sometimes a dead flat battery or jump starting the motor will do it. I think it resets itself after 3 starts, but I would take it in and the mechanic can interrogate the ECU as to what it has recorded as the fault.
