Hi all,
This is a cross post, apologies for that. As well, if this topic has been discussed in the past apologies again. I'm fairly new here.
My question is this. I'm upgrading the light bulbs in the indicators and behind the gauges on my 2000 Daytona. All are way too dim.
In taking them apart, I've discovered that all of the smaller bulbs (behind the indicator lights, and the lower speedo bulb) are 14 volt, 3 watt bulbs. The larger ones are all 12 volts.
3 watts seems like plenty for the indicator lights- I don't really want to go to 5 watts for fear of melting something. I'm wondering why the bike came stock with 14 volt bulbs in a 12 volt system, and, if I replace them with bulbs of the same wattage (3 watts), but at 12 volts instead of 14 volts, shouldn't that give me the brightness that I need? Is there any reason why they should be 14 volt bulbs in there (longer life maybe??)
Thanks!
