New to website. Amateur mechanic. I am working on a 1968 T100R basketcase. I am sure I'll be posting more questions, I'll try not to post many stupid questions. How do I replace fork oil seals? The front tubes are out of the triple tree, bottom assembly unscrewed from sleeve, spring out. I cannot remove o ring and seal. I have tried to pry out and am destroying old seal piece by piece. Does the threaded part of the sleeve need to be removed from the piece that holds the spring?
Thanks

Presuming you mean the seal at the top (large opening) of the slider (bottom half; the wheel mounts to it). And you have the two parts seperated. If the seal is stuck (old bike, probably a bit of corrosion, or just plain old bonded after such a period of loving connection they have created a 'lifestyle' relationship) you may need to heat the slider. Send your wife out for a day at the spa (or to a movie -- not sure which is cheaper) and heat it in the oven to 200~300 degrees. It should come out with some gentle prying from screwdriver (slide a piece of tubing -- old garden hose -- over the shaft to keep from dinging the tube top). Some here have used a propane torch (just heating it, not anything else), as have I. It usually only takes a minute or so. The propane adavntage is that propane tends to follow the surface around the tube versus other gases. This makes it faster, though if you have acetylene it will work fine. Just juse a rosebud (broad flame) tip.

Used propane, didn't ask the wife about the oven. Had seal out in minutes.
Thanks
