Last year my Legend started to misfire violently - mostly when I open the throttle from low revs, especially after corners &/or going uphill. Carbs cleaned, checked & tuned by Triumph dealer improved situation a bit, but not cured. Now getting worse again. Anyone got any ideas? Could it be an ignition problem, or fuel flow ?

Thanks Dai

Is it worse once it's warmed up? Have you had the ignition coils checked? Bad coils are a typical problem with the Triumph Classics. Search the archives using coil as your keyword.

Thanks Jerry,

I believe it does get worse as she warms up. I'll check the archives & have the coils looked at. Now I just need to work out what the Italian for "coil" is ! Dai

Dai

I had similar problems with my Legend. First time it was the ignitor box (brain) and I got a new one installed.

A few months later one of the coils died, got a new one installed.

(both box and coil was covered by warranty)

Some coils will start by acting flaky and that makes it hard to pinpoint which one. If you can catch idling badly, you can pull one plug wire at a time and see if you narrow it down to the culprit. Most of us ended up changing all 3 coils! My bad ones are date stamped 07/00. I have not had a hiccup since changing them last year. She purrs like a kitten and roars like a lioness.
