Anyone have problems passing inspection with a Bonneville after re-jetting carbs, airbox removal, etc.? I'd like to do this stuff in the near future and was curious.

I have the same question. We have emission requirements in Maricopa county (Phoenix area) of Arizona.
It sure would suck to drop a grand or more and then have your registration yanked for not passing emissions. :???:

My guess is that most of us do not have emission inspections. I would suggest that you post this in the general discussion area. You may get more replies.

Everything gets emissions inspections here except motorcycles. I don't know why we are exempt, but that is why nobody from up here knows the answer to the question.

No emissions laws in PA either. But if you're worried and did the work yourself, you could cheat and put the stock stuff on just for inspections. All laws have their ways around. Kyle

I owned a Triumph sports car when I lived in Phoenix and the routine was to put all the emissions crap on and take it to the shop to be set to pass emissions, take it to testing, pass test, then drive immediately back to the shop, disconnect all of the emissions stuff, retune the car so it would run decently, then take it home and remove the emissions crap and store it away until the next test was required. The only alternatives were to drive a sports car that ran like crap or not not drive a sports car at all. Overall, it was about 16 hours of effort involved.

With a Bonnie you could leave the AI system and evaporative loss system in place, but disconnected, then reconnect it and rejet in 15 minutes to pass the test. To take it all off and put it all back on would take a total of about 2 hours - add a max of two hours to and from the testing and you only need to spend 4 hours per test - a no brainer - make all the mods.

That's what I'd do. Don't get carried away with your mods or damage any stock componants, and it's a few hours work once a year..

Since I live outside the Seattle /Tacoma metro area I don't even have to get my cars inspected, though I commute to Seattle every day. Kind of a moot point anyway because I ride the bike all year and my cars are all almost new.
