I tipped my bike (02 sprint st) on the side (left hand) a few weeks ago while running. Went on a ride today for the first time after replacing the broken parts. It blew alot of smoke on start-up but then it stopped, ran fine. Went for about 15 miles and when I parked it started to leak oil. It has stopped leaking, for now, but Im afraid this will happen again. Could I have damaged my engine in the tipover? What are some things I should look for?
Thanks

Seems like you filled the airbox up with oil when the bike went over. That would explain the initial smoke on start-up.
The crankcases vent into the airbox. Probably when the bike was down you lost some oil that way, and it is now finding a way out of the airbox.
There should be a drain hose & plug leading down from the airbox. Try removing the plug and letting any surplus oil drain.
Also, did you top up the oil since the tip ? Too much oil in the engine will cause the same problem, the excess ends up in the airbox.

Thank you for the responce. I think you are right on the money! I did top off the oil before the ride. Im going to check out the air box right now. Will this hurt anything? Should I change the plugs? Do you think anything else could be damaged?? Sorry for all the questions, and thanks again for your help.

If the smoke has cleared then the chances are that everything will be fine.
Clean out the airbox of any excess not just the drain tube but if its like the TT then the filter should be ok as the oil runs off below the level of the filter.
If you are unsure get the dealer to give her a once over. It may cost a couple of hours but maybe better safe than sorry.

I don't think you have any serious problems. Major engine damage can occur in that situation, if one or more combustion chambers fills up with oil you will get a hydraulic lock and the engine goes bang.
Obviously not a problem in your case, so relax.. The plugs at worst would just need a clean, but any oil will have burnt off by now.
