Hey all,

I think I have too much play in my chain....
I've searched both this forum and googled the topic to no avail. Does anyone know where to find directions on chain adjustment on a T Bird Sport (98)? It's pretty basic, but I don't have the owners manual and therefore I'm not sure on the proper procedure (play, re-alignment etc) as it's defiantly different than my last bike.

Any page, write up or play-by-play would be greatly appreciated.

Ciao for now...

Haynes says 25-30mm slack at the tightest point on the chain. Loosen axle nut a bit, loosen adjuster locknuts, then turn the adjusters out to tighten the chain or in to loosen the chain. Be sure to turn the adjusters the same amount on each side, verify by noting which line the notch lines up with on the adjuster. All of this on centerstand.

HTH,
-Kit

And to check to see if you did it right.......check for that slack with a normal size adult sitting on the bike on it's wheels.

Thanks!

Further to that, what's the torque spec for the rear axle bolt when re tightening? ..... a Haynes is on the immediate "to buy list"

Cheers!
