I was just looking at the layout for the valve adjustment tool that's on the download page.

http://www.triumphrat.net/downloads/valve_tool.htm

It says that the thickness of the plate needs to be .25". Gosh, that sounds fairly thick to me.

Is that the thickness of the store-bought tool?

I'd guess that 1/8" would be plenty stiff enough and also be easier to cut with my pint-sized dremmel tool.

Has anyone made one of these?

Comments?

I used my homemade tool to do my shim replacement and I would stick with 1/4" thickness.
The valve springs put a bit of preassure on the tool.
And by the time you drill and slot all of the holes in the tool you will need the strength of 1/4"

.

OK thanks.

I'll stick to the plans.
