No kidding, the same thing happened to me just the other day. Plus, my bike has never been down and the oil has not been touched in 1500 miles. This problem just appeared out of nowhere. It may have had something to do with the temperature is my only guess. It was a very hot day in busy afternoon traffic. I think you may be right about the crank case breather. I will give my dealer a call. Please let us know what you find and i'll do the same.

Hi all:
I haven't gotten my Legend back from the dealer yet, but he says it's a seal that was either no good or had dried out while the bike sat (I bought a hold-over). I'll let you all know if that takes care of the problem. I don't think the problem was the bike being over-full of oil; so much of it leaked out of the airbox on the first night out on our trip, that no oil was showing in the sight window unless I leaned the bike to the right! That's how I knew this wasn't a normal or OK thing to be happening.
Anyway, when I get the Green Monster back, I'll let you all know how it went. The dealer seemed to have a couple of ideas about what was wrong, so I trust them to find and fix the leak.
More later. Ride hard! (I'm riding the 'crusty' Kawasaki this week, but I don't mind because it's a hoot.)

You have the right approach - a back up bike is a definite plus! I need to work on that. Hopefully the Legend will be back soon. Do you become K-Girl, or even worse, EliminatorGirl 'til then? Doesn't have the same ring!

Hi Colin:
No, actually, when I ride the Kawasaki I become Eric Bostrom reincarnated. The rice rocket is for serious squidliness. It's really quick and light.
See ya!

Howdy all:
The Legend comes back from the dealer tomorrow AM. The tech said when he got into the crankcase, there was a seal that was installed wrong from the factory, and that's why it was sucking oil as well as air into the airbox. There was also a grounding problem with the temp light, and the gasket around the fuel petcock was dried out and had a burr on it.
So I should be good to go; I'll let you know if all is not well! Just part of working the little bugs out of a new bike. I'm excited to get it back, so that must mean that I'm bonding with it (must be a chick thing).

Out of interest, which dealer do you use LegendGirl? I'm in New Hampshire too and would like to know who they are and what you think of them. A good dealer/service shop is worth it's weight in gold.

Hi Mick:
I purchased my Legend TT from Frank's Motorcycles in Essex, Vermont. I have to say that they have been very fair in my dealings with them; I had some things that needed to be repaired under warranty, and they treated me right. But they have some personality issues.
Great Bay Motorcycles in North Hampton, New Hampshire, is a great place to go. Everyone is knowledgeable and friendly, and if you order something from them and have it shipped to you, it arrives very quickly. In other words, they actually do what they say they will.
I would actually prefer to go to Great Bay, but Essex, Vermont is much closer for me.
Hope this answers your question. See you on the road!

Glad to hear you have the Legend back finally. So, it turned out to be none of the suggestions in the discussion - and was a Factory error!
As you say, hopefully that's the bugs out of it. You stay `bonded' to the Triumph - they're worth it!!

Just to follow up on my situation, I spoke with the dealer about the oil in my airbox. They say a small amount is typical. I've been keeping an eye on it and it has only been a couple of drops that leaked out the drain tube. No big deal unless I start to see a lot of oil. So for now i'll just keep riding.

Weird. I change my oil last week and was careful not to overfill. I did a couple of hundred miles with no problem, and today it started to leak from the airbox.
This happened at a biker meeting spot so of course I had to listen to all the cracks about leaky Triumphs..
