I have a 95 Thunderbird with saddlebags and Triumph windshield. Has anyone added an aftermarket helmet lock to their Hinckley Thunderbird, and If so where did you get it and where is it mounted on the bike? Thanks for your help.

You could use a short cable-lock (the lightweight kind used to secure bicycles) threaded through the chin-bar of a full face helmet and then through the rear sub-frame/footpeg hanger.

I got one of these locks free with a magazine and leave my helmet sitting on the seat with the lock wound around the luggage rack.

I thought that the 95 had hooks on the frame under the seat so you could hook on your helmet strap then lock the seat down so the helmet could not be removed, like they did on the early trophy and daytona - am I wrong on this?

I added a couple of helmet locks to my Legend. I have the short back rest on it, and the helmet locks fit perfectly on either side of the uprights. I bought the 7/8" locks from DennisKirk.com. Since the locks I bought fit a 7/8" round tube, there are plenty of places on most bikes to mount the locks.

Correct - the 95 has hooks accessible by unlatching and lifting the seat. If you don't like those, you can buy a helmet lock at JC Whitney that will bolt to a 7/8"s handlebar. I actually bought one of those and fitted it to my Sprint Manufacturing back rest and luggage rack.

The helmet sits on the backrest and the strap goes through the helmet lock. See pics in my workshop album - click on the link under my signature to go there.
