I have read several posting about removing the baffles on the America. Hope you guys can clear up a thing or two for me before I attempt it. I want to remove the first baffle or the one closest to the rear. From what I read drill several holes then beat the baffle out. Where is best to drill the holes around the end of the exhaust or closer to the center tube in the middle? Will the center tube come out after getting the baffle out? I would like to get mine slightly louder without re jetting. After owning it for about 3 months now and think I am ready for some louder pipes. Thanks appreciate any help.

You might try posting your question in the Twin Talk forum. Doesn't seem like too many hang out over here. Alternatively, do a search over there - there are quite a few threads on "baffelectomys". :-D

I have removed the rear baffle so here is the poop.

I used a 1\2 inch piece of round bar and inserted it into the baffle hole.
Work it back and forth till you break out the center section ( a piece of round tubing)
Once the tubing has been broken out I used a Die Grinder and ground out the baffle plate.
It is really easy and does help the sound of the stock pipes.

I took it to the next level.

I welded a 24 inch length of 1\2 round bar to a 1\2 drill bit and started drilling holes in the next baffle. After each hole I ran the bike to check the sound.
I drilled 5 holes in a circle through the second baffle plate, the sound was getting deeper but the volume of the pipes didn't change that much.I then drilled 2 holes into the third plate and I am extremely happy with the sound.
It blows the TORS out of the water.

I have had other Triumph America owners ask me what kind of pipes I have.

It's really easy just take your time and run it after each hole.

I never re jetted anything and the bike runs like a top.

Hope this helps.
