Visited a riding buddy of mine at Walter Reed Hospital today. He lost his left leg below the knee to an IED. He said he was thinking about selling his bike. I told him I think it might be possible to switch the shifter to the right side. He rides a sport bike, so getting him on some vintage Brit iron is unlikely. Anyone know of a place that either does this conversion or sells the parts for it?

REALLY sorry about your friend.
Haven't any experience with such things (almost, but not quite...), but you might check out these two websites:

electric shift

and this one:
modified shifter

Best of luck for a good recovery and many good riding miles!

A quick search on Google showed me this Translogic Powershifter. There are many other's available similar to this one. It's pretty standard for drag bikes to use electric shifters. Good luck!

Have you thought about a Jockey shift. I made one for a friend and it worked out well. Just an idea. On a side note, I retrofitted a Honda Quad for a friend who is a paraplegic and he can contol the throttle and brake with one hand and steer with the other. Just goes to show than you can set up anything you want.
