Can't seem to get the hang of the search engine on this board...

Can I use the same chain cleaning methodology on an X-Ring chain as I use on my O-Ring chains?

Kerosene and a Grunge brush to clean and the PJ1 Black.

Actually, sangsters, PJ1 Black is for use on standard chains, while while PJ1 Blue is for O-ring/X-ring chains. The following text was copied directly from www. pj1.com:

PJ1 Blue is optimized for O-Ring/X-Ring chains.

Attributes:
Clear formula won't fly off
Has a “memory” that bounces back to absorb chain lash
Reduces chain stretch and the requirement for frequent adjustments
Lubricates between roller and sprocket
Preserves O-Rings
Can also be used on standard chains

Ordering Information:
5 fl oz (147ml) Aerosol MSRP 5.33 USD (Product No. 1-08)
13 fl oz (384ml) Aerosol MSRP 8.67 USD (Product No. 1-22)

I've been using Chain Wax, and have been very happy with it. Last week, we bought a can of PJ1 Blue, and that stuff slings EVERYWHERE. I was even cleaning it off the top side of my rear fender! I'm going to keep using Chain Wax; it seems to lubricate fine, and it doesn't sling off.

I use Maxima too, I like it and love the smell of it too!

PJ1 blue is excellent for lubing linkages and lever bearings, but5 for the reasons LG describes I do not use it on chains any more.

OK, what is the best way to clean a xring chain? I have been using white lithium grease to lube it. What do you think of that?

I have had shaft drive bikes for 15 yrs before I bought my first Speed Triple 5 yrs ago that is why I am clueless when it comes to chain maintenance.

Clean with WD-40. If you can't clean it with that, it is too dirty. Fix it with duct tape. If you can't fix it with that, replace it! Uh, what are these other tools for?

As for the duct tape..... I use the fancy colored tape just like the racers. It gives me 5mph on the top end!!! :-D

Hi there,
i use the pro honda chain lube. its a dry teflon/graphite spray that comes out wet VOC and cleans as you spray it on. But I am really fond of the fact that it is a dry lube and doesn't attract grit and grime.

I am not a chain lube expert so any feedback will be appreciated.

Thanks
