I want to change the fork oil on my sprint st.Is there a drain plug on the bottom of the forks or do I need to take the forks off?If I take the forks off to drain the oil what do I use to flush the tubes and internals clean?Any suggestions on fork spring replacement(brands, pressure, etc.) would also be appreciated. Also, will I need to take the fork internals out to replace and clean the old oil out? Thanks!

as far as drain hole i don,t think k.y.b front forks have them i know showa does on some models so you have to take them off the triple tree and remove the nut on the top of them (watch out spring tension!!!!) and i think with that model you have to remove the guts then flush with wd40 or something like that ,not corrosive even regular tranmission fluid (cheap price) then wipe with a clean rag as far as type or weight you could go with spectro shock fluid 10w or if you realy want to be one with the road 15w some off roaders use 20w it depends on youre preference progressive springs are the best to upgrade to. there are others, but they stand out more. so you can get a good fitment and they will be good to talk about what you want to do as far as tuning

mrclean I want to change my fork oil also and I have the factory manual and ain't a bad shade tree mechanic...have read the procedure 4-5 times and still don't understand what the manual is saying. Also according to Triumph you need a special tool called a"fork oil filler evaualtor" that looks like a cross between a turkey baster or douche device. In order to change the oil, the front wheel has to be removed ect. It is pretty damned invovled just to drain some oil.

There is a decent article here:

Suspension mod clicky

Click on the Accessories link at the left, then choose the Suspension link. The guy is actually installing the Racetech Cartridge Emulators but the fork oil drain/refill info is relevant.

If you are doing the job without removing the forks from the bike, I would elevate the bike and secure it so that all pressure is off of the front suspension. If you remove the top bolt from the fork legs under pressure, it can do not too pretty things!!
