Hey all you New Bonnie owners:

If you haven't changed your gearing yet. Get with it!

I just changed the counter sprocket to an 18th tooth. What a difference!

Instead of almost 5k at 70 plus, its 4500-600, makes a big difference on vibration over 80 also.

One tooth is worth 6% rpm reduction or about 360rpm.

I do highway mainly. I may go a little higher later. I was going to go with two more on the main sprocket. Now I know I should have. I may yet, and revert back to the 17 tooth OEM counter sprocket.

Happy trails!

That should be two LESS
Well actually three less, if you want to raise the gearing from as it is now.
Two teeth difference on the wheel sprocket is a smaller change than one tooth difference on the engine sprocket.

Has anyone considered swapping T-3 sprockets with a Trophy 1200? Since they are the same basic motor, I assume they would interchange.

I rode one a few hundred miles this past Saturday and noticed that cruising RPM is significantly less than my TBS..

It got me to wondering what the tooth count is for the Trophy 1200 vs. the TBS.. It's definitely a swap I am considering since the majority of my riding is highway..

After posting the questions, I found this site with standard sprocket sizes for all Hinkley Triumphs up to the 2000 model year.. as well as different options available..

Yes but what about splitting the casing and installing differnt
gear ratios to kind of give you an overdrive. I told the dealer
about this and he said he wouldn't recommend it because it
would be like opening up pandora's box. I say gollbdly gook
Do it. What trouble could two gears be made to order by an
experience machine factory/shop. It's a simple math drill.
Haven't they been doing that for a couple hundred years anyway? Drop the engine, split the cases, machine the gears, and you've got the timeless design that everybody wants.
